Meet The Crew!!! Marketing Director Tom Castagna on Social Media, and Ratchet and Clank.

I know what you’re thinking, “Isn’t it time for Meet The Crew Wednesday?”

So here’s Marketing Director, Tom Castagna, talking to himself (as usual).

1) Tell us a little bit about your process?

Whether it’s for social media posts, or for press lists, one of my main strategies is one that I picked up interning at Frederator Networks (producers of Adventure Time, Bee and PuppyCat, etc…). I start by looking at our company, and ask “What do we do?” “What do we make?” Then I figure out what some of the most closely related topics to our own are. These are the topics that we want to be talking about very loudly most of the time, and then talking about our own content in between. It’s the same method for figuring out whose contact information to keep for a press release list.

2) What programs do you use?

I don’t really use anything fun or fancy.Typically, I just use Google Apps for Work and Microsoft Word.

3) Kami Kami is heavily inspired by Japanese ink paintings and focuses on origami transformations as a primary game mechanic. In what ways has Kami Kami challenged your personal style, or how have you reconciled your style to the game’s style?

This doesn’t really matter so much on the Marketing side of things, except that I get to learn about things I didn’t know too much about. Learning about and visiting Ink Painting exhibits has been one of my favorites things about this project in fact.

4) Do you think this experience has helped you to improve in some way as a Marketer?

In so many more ways than I could list here. It has been the greatest opportunity I have had so far to test my skills and creativity.

5) What part of the project are you working on now?

Right now I’m just trying to focus on updating our site and such, but I am mainly tuned in to trying to prepare for the Playcraft  Spring Expo in NYC, where we will be joining 60 other developers in showing off our product, and learning how to best proceed from here.

6) If you could live in one video game world, which one would it be?

I want to say something cool like Dragon Age, or Elder Scrolls but I would probably get killed living in Thedas or Skyrim and so on. Almost everyone does. Maybe one of the worlds of Ratchet and Clank. They were my favorite games as a teen, and they aren’t quite so deadly.
